Nitrous Oxide (Happy Gas / Laughing Gas)
Nitrous oxide or better known as laughing gas, is a colorless or odorless gas used as a local sedation method, the delivery method is done orally.
This is the preferred sedation method for nervous or anxious adults and children getting dental treatment done. After the procedure is complete, the patient is given oxygen for at least five minutes to purge any remaining gas from the lungs and aid the patient in becoming alert and awake.
The patient is recommended to have a light meal before the procedure and to avoid eating a heavy meal for three hours after the procedure.
